On January 5, the Information and Electronic Engineering Division of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the China Strategic Research Center for Information and Electronic Engineering Science and Technology released 'Fourteen Major Trends in China's Information and Electronic Engineering Science and Technology Development (2021)', focusing on analyzing developmental trends in areas such as mobile information networks, information security technologies, and intelligent development. Specifically, the 14 trends primarily span the following fields: informatization; computer systems and software; networks and communications; computer applications; cybersecurity; integrated circuits; data; perception; electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic environmental effects; control; cognition; testing, metrology, and instrumentation; blockchain; and optical engineering.
Academician Yu Shaohua of the Chinese Academy of Engineering pointed out that key questions addressed by this report include: identifying China’s strengths, weaknesses, and overall standing—particularly in critical or core domains—relative to international counterparts in terms of technology and industry; assessing fundamental technological development trends, highlights, and hotspots; analyzing industrial conditions and the underlying competitive landscape; summarizing major issues in the technological and industrial development environment—including policies, competitive dynamics, and resource availability—and proposing targeted recommendations.
