On December 8, the 2020 BRICS New Industrial Revolution Partnership Forum—co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Xiamen Municipal People's Government, and the Chinese Council for BRICS Think Tank Cooperation—was held in Xiamen. During the forum, the inauguration ceremony for the BRICS New Industrial Revolution Partnership Innovation Base was held. Xiao Yaqing, Party Secretary and Minister of MIIT; Alexey Grudiev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; and Li Yong, Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), delivered video addresses. Wang Ning, Deputy Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Fujian Province; Guo Yezhou, Chairman of the Chinese Council for BRICS Think Tank Cooperation and Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee; Hu Changsheng, Deputy Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Xiamen Municipal Party Committee; and Anil Kishore, Vice President of the New Development Bank, attended the forum and delivered speeches. The meeting was chaired by Xin Guobin, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of MIIT. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on accelerating the establishment of the BRICS New Industrial Revolution Partnership and building a 'Digital BRICS' and a 'Green BRICS,' among other topics.
Xiao Yaqing emphasized that building the BRICS New Industrial Revolution Partnership has become a shared consensus among BRICS countries and represents a new domain, highlight, and direction for deepening cooperation. China will work with all parties to pragmatically advance cooperation in digitalization, industrialization, and innovation. First, strengthen policy communication and coordination, broaden the scope, topics, and content of exchanges, and unlock complementary advantages and synergistic effects. Second, focus on emerging industries, cutting-edge technologies, and new business models, enhancing BRICS cooperation in advanced technologies and skilled talent development. Third, establish a number of landmark platforms and flagship projects to continuously converge BRICS technology flows, talent flows, capital flows, material flows, and information flows, thereby promoting industrial transformation and upgrading across BRICS countries.
