Hohhot National Internet Backbone Interconnection Point Officially Launched

2021-01-27

On January 15, the inauguration ceremony for the Hohhot National Internet Backbone Interconnection Point was held in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. Han Xia, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), attended the ceremony and put forward three requirements for Inner Mongolia’s information and communications industry: first, strengthen operation and maintenance to ensure stable and secure network operations; second, enhance regulatory oversight in accordance with the law to improve network communication quality; and third, fully and effectively utilize the interconnection point to actively support socioeconomic development.

National Internet backbone interconnection points constitute a top-tier, critical component of China’s Internet architecture and serve as vital national telecommunications hubs. They play a significant role in reducing traffic detours, improving network speeds, promoting local Internet industry development, and facilitating economic transformation and upgrading.
