On January 7, Pan Jianwei’s research team at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) published a paper titled 'An Integrated Space–Ground Quantum Communication Network over 4,600 Kilometers' in the journal Nature, demonstrating that the conditions for practical, wide-area quantum secure communication technology have preliminarily matured.
Pan Jianwei, Professor at USTC, stated: 'Our work shows that quantum communication technology is now sufficiently mature for large-scale practical applications. Similarly, if national quantum networks from different countries are integrated—and if universities, institutions, and companies collaborate to standardize relevant protocols, hardware, and other components—a global quantum communication network can be established.'
